Book launch Iris, with illustrator Thé Tjong-Khing

In 1968, Iris, by illustrator Thé Tjong-Khing (b. 1933) and scriptwriter Lo Hartog van Banda (1916-2006), was published. A graphic novel that perfectly captured the zeitgeist of pop art and flower power with its experimental design and bright colours. Fifty years later, publishing company Sherpa is republishing this forgotten gem by the celebrated children’s book illustrator. Khing garnered TV fame in the seventies when he participated in the popular film quiz Voor een briefkaart op de eerste rang and turned out to be an all-knowing movie buff. A good reason to host the launch of the reissue at Imagine. And that’s not all; the quiz itself will also be revived for one time only. A short version in which Thé Tjong-Khing will take on another legendary participant: NRC's former film and TV critic Hans Beerekamp.
