Remaking Fear – an audiovisual masterclass by Peet Gelderblom

In this audiovisual masterclass, director Peet Gelderblom provides a fascinating look into storytelling, recuts and remakes, using video essays and mash-ups. Master Hitchcock and student De Palma, the foundations of film language, variations in storytelling, the ultimate duel between good and evil, director’s cuts, reflections of the zeitgeist and the power of the Kuleshov-effect will all be discussed.

Wrapping up the masterclass will be an extra-long video essay, commissioned by Imagine, which will talk about the political, social and stylistic elements of the four adaptations that were made of Jack Finney’s 1955 novel The Body Snatchers over the years. Peet Gelderblom directs and edits drama, documentaries, commercials and TV shows. His recut of Raising Cain achieved official Director’s Cut status.

Followed by Cinema Egzotik with Invasion of the Body Snatchers - Philip Kaufmann (1978) and The Fly - David Cronenberg (1986).
